Do or diet
I’m being forced to begin a calorie counting regimen, to ensure my future health (don’t want to disappoint my great grandchild by going and dieing when I’m 70). This new push is mostly being forced by my mother; yet another problem with moving back home temporarily. I have to admit, however, I am slightly interested in losing weight myself. To that end, I’m officially counting my daily caloric consumption and working out more frequently.
The worst part about dieting are the goals you have to set. I’ve never successfully dieted because I’ve never set the right goal for me. Set the goal too high and in three months you’ll quit because the carrot has taken the lead and you feel that your best bet is to stop where you are and wait for the carrot to lap you. Set the goal too low and one good bowel movement might put you over your goal.
I wish I could diet without a goal, I wish I could just say to myself: “Just keep going until you feel good about yourself and are healthy and active.” But that will not work on me. I know better. 22 years worth of experience dealing with me (the first 4 years weren’t that bad) have taught me better. Which makes my struggle one of maintaining interest and intent. I have to remain focused on caring about my health more than I have before until I fall in a routine and I don’t have to actively think about motivating myself.
That said, I wish my pile of DDR games and dance pads had more robust exercise features.
Until I get to the point that I don’t need them, I think I’m just going to set small goals for myself. 10 pounds at a time. I figure if Microsoft is willing to give me 100 GamerPoints for every 10 pounds I lose I’ll be fit in no time flat. Now there’s some motivation.
No commentsMy first post
I’ve never been consistent with any form of blogging since I started podcasting with RoflcopterDown. Now that we’ve moved up to a big boy site I feel like I should really update my blog frequently. Since I normally just gripe about things that irritate me in my blog I’m going to make a concerted effort to stray from just that.
In order to facilitate this, it makes sense that my first post in my own blog be about making the site. I suppose I should thank our host DreamHost and my friend and fraternity brother Ben Golub for hooking our site up with its new digs. The creation of this site and the message boards has been really simple, I clicked around for a while until the WordPress and phpBB installs were done and then I just had to setup accounts and PodPress to make the site work. All that was left was a lot of style sheet tweaking and photoshopping a new set of logos for the new name.
On a related note: the new name arose at roughly 3:00am EST during a conversation between me and fellow presenter Justin. Maybe Tom will post some of the awesome potential names we were throwing around (mostly inside jokes), or maybe we’ll discuss this on the first or second episode of the new season.
At any rate, I need to get some much deserved sleep, I’ve been puling some late hours to get the new website ready for the awesomeness that will be our new season. I can guarantee the same level of hilarity, fun and debate that went into RoflcopterDown will go into The Rumble Pack. hopefully we can reach a larger audience with the new name, website and image.
Hopefully.
