In this week’s entry: Downloadable Content
Downloadable Games: N+
This puzzler/platformer is yet another game that combines what I love about puzzle games with another genre. The basic premise is simple enough. Open a door and bypass gates by hitting switches. You jump to the switches while avoiding traps and enemies.
The part that makes this game absolutely mind boggling addicting is the precision it requires out of you and the sheer amount of levels there are to enjoy. I never feel like the game is faulting me, any failure I blame squarely on myself. And with making your own levels and downloading more, there may be no end to the enjoyment one can get from this game.
Downloadable Content: Rock Band Songs
I continue to eat up the tracks that come out each week. I did skip the Earache Pack but who wouldn’t. I finally got around to playing the Grateful Dead songs on different instruments than just guitar. I’m thoroughly impressed with the band, I’d never tried to listen to any Dead songs before. I was under the impression that they were a kind of music that I would not enjoy. I was wrong.
Also, they have two drummers. Which explains a lot about the difficulty of the drum parts on Expert.
Downloadable Content: Forza 2 Cars
Lamborghini Murcielago LP640; if that doesn’t give you an instant semi you might want to ignore the next paragraph.
I got back into playing Forza Motorsport 2 over the week due to the downloadable cars, several of which I fancied test driving. The sheer joy of turning off all of the driving assists and running the cars in manual around the Nurburgring is indescribables to those who don’t already yearn to do so. That being said I was reminded how amazing the Forza 2 driving model is and how much GT5 has to do to bring me back to it. Also, this game makes me consider getting the racing wheel now that it is only one hundred bones. End petrol-head section.
Downloadable Movies: August Rush
I once again payed real money to rent a digital file. in the form of the movie August Rush.
A slightly saccharin movie about an orphan who can hear music in everything, and just wants to find his real parents.
I can’t say the acting was that spectacular, Robin Williams plays a deranged old man; to give you an idea of the depth of the characters in the movie. What I can say about the movie is that the use of music and how they represent the main character hearing music in everything is fun to watch. And the music is pretty moving at times.
Definate rental and a four star (out of five) movie for me.
Addendum: Remember how I posted about Dreamfall? Guess what got announced as an Xbox Original two days later? I’m that important that Microsoft bends to my whims.

You spent 10 bucks on a flash game that has controller support and a multiplayer online mode? I’m not gonna say the game is bad or anything, but for me $10 is far too much for what I perceive are minor additions to an already free game. Make it $5 and then i’m thinkin about it.
