You know, for all of the jokes we made about snoozin' when you went into Forza mode, I've actually been inspired (by you) to car up my gaming a bit more. However, I've been tempted to go the GT PSP route, as the stuff people are bitching about (less tweaking and career stuff) is exactly what I wanted removed from the console games. Plus, being on a handheld and featuring 800 collectible cars doesn't hurt. This season is pretty crowded, so this won't be happening anytime soon, but next year? You bet!

True, no one cares...unless there's money involved.

It's funny that you bring up the good Prof. Layton in this entry - take a look around and notice that Gamestop is the ONLY major game selling chain in the country to be charging 5 dollars more than the suggested retail price of $29.99 for this sure-fire hit. There's no complicated question as to why either - it's simply because they can get away with it.

Corporate greed is gross.

Sounds like some finance executives need to get their asses kicked here.

I enjoyed the Dr. Claw reference.

I think the store owned and operated locally by an enthusiastic person died a long time ago in videogames. Before they were even selling home console cartridges, I suspect. No, it was probably the video game arcades of the 80s that were the last chance for genuinely enthusiastic gamers to be at the same level as someone interested exclusively in the big boxes' quarter guzzling capabilities.

All the cards do come in the box. The game proceeds in turns all drawing from the same deck. Effectively, it's like playing with a different Magic deck each game. While some people think the game is solitaire, the interaction of the game is playing from the same pool of cards and competing for efficient action.

In my youth (and still today I must admit) I love CCGs, tabletop gaming, and board games.

I have soaked quite a few of my hard earned dollars into Magic, and more recently into the WoW CCG (I know it is on the more expensive side, but playing a Raid deck in WoW CCG is like combining great elements from Magic and AD&D, lots of fun).

A few questions to clear things up:

Do all of the cards come with the game?

Assuming that they do (since that is what would make this more affordable than Magic) that seems to take away part of the allure of Magic. I always thought part of Magic's charm was to build a deck around a card or idea, and to try to make your strategy more efficient than the opposition's. Do you get to do that in this? Or is it more that you build your strategy and it can be a different strategy each time?

Oh wow! So you didn't get Chrono Trigger DS? But everyone else on the Pack did, right? It's surprising, considering you already have a DS; I on the other hand, am considering a DS purchase, merely to play this game again (and also for the great Castlevania DS games I've heard so much about). I think if you make the CT DS purchase, you can legitimize your having emulated it in the past. :-)

This was actually the first game I played with an emulator. I remember emulating this in high school ... stupid secret door combination. It took me forever to figure out that I needed to change my emulator settings to press two buttons at the same time. That stupid rat is how I will forever remember Chrono Trigger. Good times.

There are a bunch of board games that i'd love to play (like Arkham Horror), but unfortunately, the people I know aren't really into such nerdly pursuits. Maybe you guys could record a game session and post the results as some kind of bonus episode.

I don't have a g-meter in my car, but the roundabouts in our business park are pretty goddamn perfect for turning off the traction control, romping on the gas, and squealing around. fun times.
